Hey there
My name is Mackenzie. I'm an interior stylist focusing on interior design, home staging, real estate and really anything that means turning a house into a home. I clearly love amazing interiors and architecture, but also feel inspired through photography, gardening (my thumb is slowly turning green!) and cooking. I travel any chance I get - that source of inspiration is truly unmatched. I love pulling in travel-inspired finds into my designs and anything one-of-a-kind so that your home tells your story.
My Story
Growing up, I was one of those who stayed up all night rearranging my room and styling my dresser with all my kiddo knick knacks. So when it came time to go to college, Interior Design was the obvious choice in my mind. In the fall of 2009, I began my freshman year at Louisiana State University, Geaux Tigers! I spent the next 5 years pulling way too many all-nighters and practically living at my Design studio. I did multiple internships in Houston, and had an incredible summer interning abroad in Barcelona, Spain. All of my hard work paid off when I got my dream job before even graduating in 2014. So I moved to Chicago and began working as a Project Assistant for Alessandra Branca, who is a master in our field and has been on the AD100 list a number of times. Unfortunately, the weather in the windy city was too cold for this Southern girl, and there's just something about Texas that always brings me back. So I packed up and moved to Austin - does this story sound familiar? I ended up working on my own for a few years with Clients in Austin, Houston & New York City. Eventually, began working at BANDD Design, helping build a truly successful Design business over the course of a few years. Now onto the next! Back on my own, I’m beyond excited to create unique spaces again for my own Clients and explore the crazy world of interior design, real estate and home styling.
Design Style
Why put a label on it? I don’t like to limit myself when it comes to design. But my home is cozy, eclectic and a mix of old and new. All white walls and neutral furniture are the perfect canvas for passed down family art, and pillows and decor collected whilst traveling. I love styling with books (and reading them too!), vintage brass and photography of any kind. But your home has a different story. I love old wood floors, vintage and antiques, mixed in with clean lines of cabinetry, neutral patterns and textures, with subtle pops of color and surprisingly playful art. Elements from Scandinavian, Classic French, Tribal, and Mid-Century styles all seem to creep into my designs at some point or another. I’m a minimal maximalist - I like simple designs that get brought to life through the smallest, but always noticeable, details.
